Trying to squeeze a run in.

My training is not actuallt happening. I am so disappointed with myself. I am going to school. working full time and trying to get ready for my baby girl to arrive. I have not had time for a thirty minute run in about a week. I feewl like i am not accomplishing anything. Well my class is almost over that schould give me a little free time to run. hopefully i can get on track before my daughter comes along and throw a new monkey wrench in the training. but i know she will be completely worth it.

Start of Week Two

I'm starting to find it hard to find time to squeeze my runs in this week, which i find very frustrating. between working full time, helping by wife who's pregnant and taking a summer class at college I am swamped. So far I have only got one week in so far. I find it has brought my mood down some not being able to run. only one week in and i already miss running. oh well hopefully I can get a run in tonight when it cools down. running in AZ is hard in the summer. It's so darn hot.

Hike Day

So today instead of running I went on a short hike with my mom. We went slow since we are both starting on our road to fitness. I think we did about two mile over about an hour at Thunderbird park.

It was very fun.

We decided to go on our hike since I entered a weight loss contest at work. I am currently weighing in at 266. I really want to drop some weight this year. I would like to run a 5K in under 30 minutes this year that is my race goal. As for weight loss I would be happy if I could drop about 30 pounds this year.

Week 1, Gotta Start Somewhere

So as today is Saturday I wanted to put down a few words about my first week. I did two runs this week one about 1.5 miles the other about 1.3 miles. It wasn't that far and it was nothing close to fast but I did it and thats all that matters in my opinion. So previously I had attempted to start running by doing the C25K program. I have to say that program did not work for me. I have talked to many people who swear it is the best thing ever and I have to say it is a great program. My problem with the progam is that I don't like having to run and walk when told. It sounds funny as I write it down but it's how I feel. I have modified the C25K program to what works for me. Basically run until I am to winded or tighten up then I walk til I catch my breath and repaest for 20 to 25 minutes. It's the same principle as the C25K but with out the constant looking at my watch. I enjoy it because I challenge myself to run more than I walked the run before. I am hoping I can run 30 minutes straight in about 6 to 8 weeks. After my first run I felt good then then the two day soreness set in. Oh my goodness that made the run on the second day horrible. My hips and quads were so sore. Well I think I will go hiking on Sunday and run Mon, Wen and Fri next week.
